This was the 2nd time I *had* to use DAS just because it's contracted with my company, I had no choice.
The first time I shipped my car from NJ to CA, my Lexus ES 350 at that time was a brand new car, bought for a couple of month, fully loaded with all sorts of options, value of the car was at $50k. I paid the most expensive price for this shipping because I wanted to protect my car, I ordered enclosed option and expedited service.
The car arrived a few days late (so much for the expedite service) and it was covered with white stains that seemed like "bird poops". The driver apologized for not having time to wash the car, it was my first time shipping a car so I was not cautious at all. I didn't take any photos, and the car looked okay to me other than being dirty, so I signed the Bill of Landing without commenting anything. After I took the car for a wash, those white stains turned out to be chemical peels, my entire car was covered with chemical drips!!!
The entire car needed to be repainted with a color that would never match the original manufacturing color.
Of course DAS denied all damages because I didn't mark these down on BOL, so I had to have my insurance to pay for the repair, about $4000 for the entire paint.
2nd time, from CA back to NJ. I was being more cautious, and took photos and examined the car upon arrival. The completely ruined my spoiler, all the gauges on the two sides of the spoiler. My estimator said it would cost $3000 to fix that, their estimator said only $1200, and was willing to pay only that.
The entire claim process has been nothing but disaster!!! They had only one estimator in the entire state of NJ who can look at my car and I have to go with his schedule, only between the hours of 8 and 12 on a weekday. We finally had an appointment, I waited from 8am until 1pm, the guy finally showed up at the body shop. Yes I waited for entire 5 hours. AS for the payment of only $1200, it took them 4 months to mail it!!! I am not kidding, the 3 months I could not get hold of my claim adjustor, no message or phone number on whom to contact, simply couldn't get hold of her. Her name was Taylor Zamora, her answering machines says "I am on leave. Thank you".
So I called the central number and that's how I was able to get the check, finally.
I really wonder how DAS can stay in business, it's exacerbating to have to deal with any part of their services.
