They get two stars because my car was not damaged and nothing was stolen. I chose this company based on the following information given to me by "Armando:"

For $1033 my car would be picked up and dropped off at me home (from CA to MD) on the top level of an open carrier. They have insurance coverage up to $50k with a $250 deductible (this may be true). However, he assured me that THEY, DAS, was the carrier and that the trucks were theirs. I was further assured that my car would not change hands several times as it crossed the country (a known problem). Again, I'm not sure what happened after it left my house in CA because, as it turns out, they DID contract with a third party carrier and there were huge issues with delivery. Specifically, I had paid extra for home delivery ($1033 v. $885 if I dropped off/picked up at a "terminal"). The third party carrier refused to deliver the car to anywhere but a truckers weigh station 11.5 miles from my house (I obviously would have to take a cab there) and I was to wait there for 2 hours from 6-8 pm. Yes, a woman alone after sundown at a remote truck stop. Seriously. Their stated reason was that my neighborhood had "too many trees" for the carrier to get through. Not true. From the highway to the house there are wide, multi-lane roads with NO TREES! My street is so wide semi trucks drive down it! Not only did they refuse to reimbursement me for the taxi to the weigh station, but while they thought I was on hold, they all openly laughed at me and discussed how unreasonable I was being for not wanting to wait along at the weigh station. Seriously!

Their solution was to wait an additional 5 days for delivery on a flatbed or to have me pick car up at their Pikesville, MD "terminal" (which was a trailer off of a dirt road)...1 hour and 15 minutes away from the paid for delivery address. I finally found a coworker to drive me all the was out there. The very least I would have expected is that DAS refund the difference between what I paid and what the price would have been for having to pick the car up. 3 phone calls and an email later, they have agreed to refund $40. This just doesn't seem fair.
