To date, working with DAS has proven to be a complete disaster. After personally dropping the vehicle off at the shipping point (literally, a junk vehicle yard/impound lot) and departing overseas, a week later we were contacted (thankfully!) by DAS to request yet more paperwork, despite previous assurances that they had all they needed, along with our payment. When U.S. Customs reportedly came back and requested more information, rather than attempt to intermediate, the POC simply dropped the problem in our laps. To reiterate, we were already at our overseas destination at this point - to make matters worse, the POC simply stated what Customs wanted, not where the information should be sent or in what form, nor provide any helpful suggestions, let alone attempt to locally resolve the issue. When we saw assistance was not forthcoming from DAS and asked for a contact person/number at Customs to discuss the matter, the response was 'here's the main number.' Gosh, thanks, Anthony, that's nothing I couldn't find after a 3-second Google search. This was a recurring issue throughout the process, but being unfamiliar with services that an actual shipper would provide, we wrote it off to the complexities of shipping a vehicle overseas - now I realize that a professional shipper would readily provide information about port fees and approximate import taxes and would not respond with 'contact the local consulate.'
It's gotten so bad, we've actually considered just cancelling the entire operation and telling DAS to ship the vehicle back to our point of origin. In short, DAS seems nothing short of a fly-by-night operation - if you care about receiving your vehicle in a safe, timely, and professional manner, find another shipper. Personally, I suspect the positive reviews on this site are paid submissions to offset the negative feedback this company so richly deserves.
