I contracted with CCAT on 08/26/09 for pickup by the end of the week. I secured the contract with a deposit and was told that CCAT had their own trucks and would not broker the shipping ( i had previously dealt with a brokerage and found out quickly that it was a bad idea) as they had their own fleet of trucks. I had also been through the runaround of pricing and how the quotes come in low and then you need to "increase your rate by $50 to get someone to take the offer." I was also told that this would not be the case with CCAT.
Starting 09/01/09 i called back every day to find out the status of the shipment. Every day i either talked to Ralph or Cal and was told they would check into the status and call me back, if not that night, then first thing in the morning. On five different occasions i was told i would get a return phone call, and not ONCE did i ever receive a call back. Finally on 09/04/09 I talked to Ralph and demanded a return of the deposit, as it had been 10 days since the vehicle was scheduled to ship. Ralph gave me a ten minute run-around as to why the vehicle hadn't shipped yet. However the bottom line was that i was given a shipment window and a shipment price. Ralph convinced me to up the price by $50 and "see what takes" over the holiday weekend. He all but guaranteed the vehicle would get picked up off of central dispatch. Ralph also said no matter what he would call me on 09/08/09 by 1200EDT. GUESS WHAT no call!! I have finally gotten a hold of Cal who has processed the refund, but the company only processes refunds "maybe once a week or every other week!" I demanded to speak to the finance department that handles the refunds, and guess what, RAPLH runs that department as well. NO, i have not gotten a call back as of yet.
I would strongly recommend finding another company to ship your vehicle. Not only does CCAT use deceptive marketing practices, they do not own their own trucks (as i found out from another company), and they absolutely will not return phone calls. Not even after 14 days to say "we're sorry, but we couldn't get your vehicle shipped for the quote we gave you." They instead choose to string you along, and then deceptively convince you that you need to increase your maximum bid to get a driver to pick up the vehicle. I have since contracted with another company that will pay the difference if you need a higher offer, and they have returned every phone call they promised!!
