Contacted Cascade (Nick) on a Saturday after a hotshot driver missed 3 appointments then showed up on Thanksgiving day with a trailer that coulldn't load our STE from the ground as promised. Nick shot us a quote and follow-up email. He told us that it might be some trouble getting the car picked up quickly due to the route (we're not "in the middle of nowhere", but I can hit it with a rock from my front porch), Christmas approaching and the weather getting bad. He was right. They were able to get a truck about 2-1/2 weeks later, and without changing the price. The driver, Ilie, contacted us the same night to say that he would pick up the car the next day. Because of issues with the other shippers, the next day (Thursday) turned into Saturday morning but that's how this industry goes folks. These drivers need to fill out the trucks to make a living. I've read many reviews from people who have absolutley no clue about the auto transport business and never bothered to do alittle research. There was more than one person that even planned flight schedules based on estimated pick-up dates and were livid that the drivers were late! On Saturday morning Ilie was very apologetic for the delays and he carefully inspected the car for damage, made notes on the Bill of Lading, and then loaded our car. When he said that he would have the car at the destination on Monday the 21st (1380 miles with multiple stops) I thought to myself "Yeah, like you were going to pick it up Thursday afternoon too". Well, he delivered the car to our daughter at about 3:30 this afternoon (Monday, 12/21) just as promised and other than some road grime, which is to be expected, (For those clueless ones who think that these guys are supposed to wash your cars too) all was as it was when it was picked up. Since we were in no real hurry, we were able to get the car shipped for a very good price. I would have expected to pay more if time had been a factor. Communication from Cascade was as expected. (I didn't want daily "we're still looking" updates). And they never asked for a dime more than the original quote. Nick did, however, inform me that there was another car in the general area that was shipping to a location about 200 miles closer and that shipper was offering $100.00 more than us. He said that upping the offer would be up to us but thought that we should know what the "competition" was offering. I myself figured that if the driver came in to pick up the more expensive car, we would have a chance to shag a ride on the same truck for no extra money. (Not sure if that's even how it played out) Nick, Jeff, and Nicole did a great job, and Ilie (Detroit's Mad Romanian) was courteous and friendly although somewhat hard to understand at times. Now I may be getting a fifty buck rebate for this, but I would have said the same regardless. Remember folks, this aint FedEx or UPS. If your want guaranteed dates and times, hire the whole truck and foot the bill. But even that, as we found out, is still no guarantee. (Now, if I could only review THAT guy somewhere)
