All I wanted to do was simply ship a vehicle from Charleston, South Carolina to northern Indiana.
Seems like no reputable trucking company serves the southeast, and when you find one that says they do, well... you don't want them anyway. That's when you're glad you called Carla. She stayed on these clowns until this bozo act was finally done. If it wasn't for her, my 5-weeks wait for my 1966 Land Rover would be well into it's third month. I booked the transport on April 28, a "trucking company" willing to do the job was confirmed on May 10, and delivery was June 26, Sunday, at 6 am! Carla didn't feel real comfortable about this particular trucking company to begin with, but I said go ahead. I should have listened to her. I bought the vehicle sight unseen from someone I had never met. Then I sent payment in full as a money order...and then no vehicle. Days turned into weeks, and whenever Carla called the trucking company to see what was going on, excuses were as unique and varied as you could imagine. I really began to believe there was no Land Rover, and I was paying for my stupidity. Come to find out, they couldn't even find the vehicle, then they bumped it from a load several times for whatever reason, claimed it wouldn't fit on the truck because of the roof rack, had it sit in a truck yard for a week for an auto auction to close, had several transport breakdowns in transit (what about MY breakdown?!). Anyway, it finally arrived, and in good shape. Carla made the difference- very professional, very thorough, and a little humor for sanity sake. If you're shipping from the southeast, one word of advice- go get it youself. Or call Carla.
