Mr. Hughes contracted with us to move a van from Watertown, NY to Auburn, WA. The order was assigned to a truck 4 days later for pick up within his pick up window. Unfortunately, the carriers load fell apart and as his agent, we had to find him another solution. Scheduling was an issue as Mr. Hughes was relocating. He opted to change the pick up location to Port Clinton, OH instead and we immediately began working on finding another truck. The next day, his order was re-dispatched to a second truck for pick up in Port Clinton, OH 4 days later as scheduled and delivered in 7 days. We immediately notified Mr. Hughes of the progress and advised him of the balance owed to the new carrier. One month later, Mr. Hughes called in and requested a discount for changing the pick up location. We explained to Mr. Hughes that we could not offer him a discount on something that was completed one month ago. Had he inquired to lower the rate when the location was changed, we would have dispatched the order for a lesser balance. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do one month later after he paid the balance to the trucking company upon delivery.
