Disappointing experience

I transported a new Saab November 2007 from Boston to California with DAS with satisfactory results. When we purchased our new Tundra truck in August 2008 from Arlington Texas I contacted DAS but their rate was over $1100. Steven at Blue Star gave a convincing sales pitch for his company and a rate of $800 and pick up point was more convenient.
Blue Star as a broker was fine. The problem was with the actual driver and dispatcher from
Town and Country Transport in Fontana, CA. They scheduled pickup on Sat Aug 23 with my dealer Vandergriff. They no-showed. Then they scheduled pickup for Mon Aug 25 and once again no-showed. Wayne from Town&Country said driver got his rig stuck in someone's driveway.
Finally, just before closing on Tues Aug 26 they picked up the Tundra and I was told it would arrive on Thurs the 28th. That morning I was told the driver was pulled over in Arizona by authorities and advised he was over the allowed hours and had to sit for 10 hours. Wayne told me he would try to get the California driver to wait and truck would be delivered Fri. He was to call us by 5pm with details. Not only did he not call but message machine refused to take our message. Holiday Weekend! Blue Star was helpful but also had problems reaching Town & Country. Tues went by and Wed we hoped to get a call that the Tundra had left Los Angeles and was on its way. We had now spent a week by the phone waiting to get confirmation of delivery.
Finally, at 9:30pm the driver called to say he was within two hours of our destination. We drove to meet the driver and picked up the truck at 11:30pm.
In conclusion, find a reliable transporter, save the broker fees as Blue Star could not control the transport company they had chosen. Also my experience is "you get what you pay for" and I will not make the decision based on price.
