Bluestar couldn't hold to what was promised.

Hi -

I really don't have an ax to grind and after trying to make things right.... and failing. I felt I'd write this review to warn other people.

This was my first time having a car shipped, so I was a bit naive.

Here is how the shipping biz works.

You get a quote. THe company then resells the move to a subcontractor which is the amount you paid less 100 or 150 which the company keeps. SO let's say 5 cars have to get moved from NY to Georgia. If the reseller is going to make more on car A and B... he will move those cars first... and the other cars will not get moved on that day. So the higher the price you pay, the more important the car is to move, because the actual mover will make more money on that.

So while most companies can tell you exactly which day the car will get moved, bec. you are paying more. If you pay less, you are given a "window" in which the car is moved.

In my instance, I was given a week's window which was fine as I didnt need my car asap.
I did my homework by emailing people on this review list. I called other places. But Bluestar was at least 100 cheaper, and with good reviews and my not needing the car ASAP I was ok with the window of a week.
I send my credit card info for a deposit and was sent a contract.
I was told that The order was accepted and I would be told a day in advance when the car would be shipped.
Monday comes and goes.
Tuesday comes and goes.
I called the company wednesday and I was told they were still going to ship it as the week was not over yet.
Wednesday comes and goes.
Thursday I was told the company could not ship the car because a axel on a truck broke... which could or could not have been true. But I'll assume it was the truth.
Friday I was told the car would be able to be taken ... but would not make it down in the promised time.
The car was eventually taken on sunday and made its way down to Atlanta in good condition Tuesday.
All in all, the money I saved by using bluestar I gave away due to paying for a taxi as well as car service for two days as I had no car.
The company maintains their contract stated they are not responsible for missed days and would rather NOT give me half of my cost, 45 dollars. THey would rather I call the better business bureau and post this review.
They did offer my a credit on my next transport though. Which I will never use because... well.. Fool me once ...shame ...on you..fool me twice....well.. you know how it goes.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me. SInce this event I HAVE spoken to a reputable driver and would be more than happy to pass his name to you.
As an aside, I actually DO have to move my car back to NY. So instead of giving me 20 dollars to settle this... Bluestar is missing out on a chance to make 500 dollars to transport my car back.
Something about customer service and business smarts seems to be lacking.

Well, have a nice day and good luck,
Jay
