Best Way lied to me from the beginning, in fact, nothing from the original contract was actually delivered on. My original contract was supposed to be a June 19 pickup FROM MY HOUSE and drop off AT MY DESTINATION on July 1. The contract was for roughly $1190.
Come mid-day on June 19, nobody has called me about picking up the car. I call them, and they tell me "Oh ya, the truck is having problems, doesn't look like it will get to you until Wednesday or Thursday." Ok, fine. Come Wednesday no call, and now they tell me I either have to wait until next week (which won't work because I am flying that Saturday across the country) or I can have it picked up on Thursday by a different company for $150. I don't like it, but fine. THEN, I get another call saying nevermind, can't do that pick up either, your only other option is to drop the car off in Hartford (an hour away from my house). This will still cost the same as before. This sucks, but what other choice do I have at this point...however, I made them promise me on the phone that:
1) I would still be paying the EXACT same price
2) The car would still arrive on either July 1, or within a few days
3) The car would still be delivered to my destination (my apartment)
They say yes to all, so I drop off the car and head out to California. 1 week later a get an e-mail with a "revised contract" with no explanation, charging me an extra $125. I call the company and they say that they will call me back, obviously they don't. I called the next day, I am transfered to 3 different people, every single one of them VERY rude to me, despite the fact that I am being perfectly calm on the phone, and simply asking why I am being charged more. I asked the owner Sheldon why everyone was treating me like crap and he said "because you have been nothing but a pain." In reality, I only wanted to know why they increased the shipping cost by 10%.
Oh, it doesn't end there. I sent Shelly an e-mail with a few questions and told him my concerns over the way I've been treated, and asked him to please e-mail me back. I wait a few days, nothing. I call, turns out he never read the e-mail, and then yells at me "What is your problem." Finally, he tells me I was being charged $35 for a drop off fee (which they told me would NOT be a charge) and a $90 fuel surcharge, despite the fact that Diesel had been down $.05 a gallon from the time my car was shipped to when I received the contract. It gets worse.
I just received a call today saying my car had finally arrived at the terminal in CA, and I need to pick it up this week. That's odd, Best Way PROMISED IN THE CONTRACT AND ON THE PHONE that the car would be shipped to my door. Nope, that will be an extra $90 dollars.
So, all in all, this processs which should have, according to Best Way, taken 11 days, cost $1190, and gone door to door, ended up:
1) Taking 32 days
2) Being a drop off and pick up rather than door-to-door
3) Costing me $1400 plus another $315 to rent a car b/c mine was not there
I still have not actually gotten the car yet, so who knows if everything is still in it and intact, but this was honestly the worst experience I have ever had with any company.
