My vehicle made it safely from Honolulu to Texas. This was my 1st time shipping a vehicle because I've normally sold my cars before moving and bought them in the new territory. Well, this time was different. I paid cash for my 2008 Mercedes ML-350 and didn't want to sell my car just yet. At any event, I had heard horror stories about other auto shipper experiences and did my best research on a company that had a solid rating. AutoStar did a fantastic job because my SUV came back without flaw. Sure the car was dirty but that's expected unless you're wanting a free car wash upon delivery ;) anyhow, the woman Kira was very prompt and supportive the whole way through. My cost of 1550 does not include the marine hazard insurance. I went thru a company based in Cali and they charged nearly $700 bucks! If you go a better deal then please lemme know. We all could benefit from that. I paid the steep fee because I rationalized that it's better than buyin a brand new car again. I checked with my insurance company and found out that they do NOT cover your vehicle if it sank in the ocean. I informed the guys at Mattson about this because some of their reps made blanket promises that your vehicle is covered. Please read the fine print. There are limitations to their coverages. It's only like $7,000 (est) which aint crap if you're driving a luxury car or anything expensive for that matter. So yeah. Get the marine insurance if you're not a gambling man like me. It's up to you. Anyhow, overall this was a great experience and I'm sure to use AutoStar again and would recommend it to anyone. My only advice would be for customers to be willing to meet their drivers at the car rental locations. I was lucky to get a job in Irving Texas so it was nice that they were willin to change locations last minute to meet me there so I could exchange my Budget car rental without having to hail a taxi later. So my advice, if you're renting a car, then return your vehicle at the location an make your delivery auto guy meet ya there. You want your car arriving safe and not having to drive down weird roadways or narrow paths. Budget locations are designed for all sorts of vehicles to traverse their parking lots. Makes sense, right? Ok, that's it.
