Bottom Line: My Car Arrived Safe and Sound

AmeriFreight contacted me on Thursday, August 29 to say that they had a carrier who could pick up my car and deliver it the same day for $725. Based on my earlier conversations with Sy at AmeriFreight, I thought this offer was in keeping with previous offers I had received, so I accepted it. AmeriFreight already had the pickup and destination information on file since I had contacted them earlier in July about shipping my car. I put a deposit of $125 on a credit card via phone and then received an email that showed I would owe the driver $600 in cash upon delivery. I was told that the driver had a one-hour pickup window of 1 to 2pm EST. The driver ended up being nearly an hour late picking up the car and had no bill of lading for my sister to sign (she was with the car at the pickup location). The carrier turned out to be a driver of a Ford F150 truck with a trailer attached to the back. As a result, my car was the only one he was towing. In none of my communications with AmeriFreight was it ever communicated to me that the carrier might be an individual with a pickup truck and a trailer. It turned out not to be an issue, but it was just surprising since all that I have ever seen pictured on the AmeriFreight website are trailers that can haul multiple cars. The driver sent text messages to keep me informed of his arrival and even called once to confirm delivery that night. It turns out that my car was delivered shortly after midnight on Friday, August 30. The driver had difficulty finding the destination location to deliver to (not his fault, Google Maps sends people to the wrong address), so my father had to meet him at a nearby Exxon station and lead him to the house. The driver was polite, hardworking, and efficient, but he had no bill of landing for me to sign nor did he have a receipt to hand me after I gave him the cash. The driver took several photos after he drove my car into the driveway and then had me sign a something on his phone. (I never received a copy of the document I signed.) The bottom line is that I got my vehicle moved from East Tennessee to West Tennessee safely, which is what I wanted. However, if I ever need this kind of service again in the future, I am not sure I will choose AmeriFreight, as the experience turned out to be different than what I was expecting, and I got no communication from Sy at AmeriFreight once I accepted the offer and provided my vehicle's VIN. The only other communication I received from AmeriFreight was an email and a text from AmeriFreight's CARE TEAM, asking if the order could be closed and then, of course, the email giving me the opportunity to leave a review.
