Overall the process was smooth and there were no issues with the transport. Car was picked up a couple days early which worked well for me in this instance and arrived in expected number of days with no damage.
For someone who has never transported their car before the process was a bit of a mystery and some more explanation of the entire process would have been nice. Granted some of that falls on me for not asking more questions but it’s also a situation where you don’t know what you don’t know and wasn’t sure what questions to ask.
The total price ended up being a thousand dollars more than the original quoted price. Your quoted price is what your transport is originally posted to the national board at but likely it’s a grossly under true rate and seems to be used more as a marketing scheme/drag you in to a company. If you have the time to turn down a shipment offer that comes back way over your original quote, it’s less of an issue but if it’s coming down to the wire you’re kind of stuck taking what you get. I don’t think this is an “AmeriFreight” thing, it’s likely standard across the industry but just something to be aware of.
