I would have given AmeriFreight 5 stars except for a few things, which were most likely out of their control, but still important. First, Samantha, the AmeriFreight contact was very helpful, would call back and keep me updated, and I felt that I could trust what she said during the process, which is something that was very important when you are giving someone you don't know the keys to your can and allowing them to take it thousands of miles. I read a review for AmeriFreight which said that their quoted price went up a fair amount, and that happened in my case, the increase was about 40%. Amerifreight is a broker, not a carrier, they locate a carrier to do the job on a ride board where carriers go to bid on jobs. The reason given for the increase was that the carriers who bid on the job all bid higher, and time became short so we had no choice. I believed this, but just be prepared for this to happen. AmeriFreight said the carrier they found had a 100% rating, I looked for reviews for the carrier, on Transport Reviews, yelp, everywhere I could think of and found nothing on them. When I asked about this, AmeriFreight said that they had a 100% rating in the transport community and this was not something the public could get to. This was not very reassuring, but I trusted them. The carrier changed the agreed upon pick up date, which was okay, but they also changed the drop off date they had agreed to, that was not possible for me, so they did change to a date I could work with. The carrier was not that easy to reach, once their phone message was full and would not take any more calls, but eventually it worked out. My car was old, and I asked if it could be not put in the very back hanging at an angle. The carrier office said that should be no problem, and the driver said that it would be moved to the center of the truck, but it left at the back spot on top and arrived in the back spot on the bottom, but it may have been placed there only for a short time. So the price and dates and spot on the truck seemed related to the carrier, the broker part seemed to be seamless...
