AmeriFreight was a great way to transport my car from IL to Hawaii. I would definitely use them again and strongly recommend them to others. This was my first time shipping a car. Three things I wish I knew: 1) I contacted them very early in May for an end of June shipping date. Their calendar is about two weeks out, so this was too early and my rate changed about $300 between the time I first called and received an estimate to when they actually booked. 2) There car pickup was very easy, but the representative showed up in flip flops and no identification. He didn't recognize the name AmeriFreight. Everything worked out, but I was uneasy about this stranger driving off with my car on the back of his truck. 3) AmeriFreight passed off my car to another transport company, Matson, in California for the rest of the trip to Hawaii. There was little information about this handoff: when did my car arrive to California, if it was properly received, and when it would be heading to Hawaii.
Lecia Phillips was my agent and always provided me with the updates she had. She worked hard to make sure I was comfortable with shipping my car for the first time. Lecia even helped contact Matson to release our car on short notice. Lastly, Lecia followed up the next day to make sure we got the car back. She is great.
