I'm happy with the end result. My car made it across the country in good time.
However, I was left in the dark for a week while AmeriFreight was trying to a secure a bid for my car transport. I would have liked an update during that period because when you move across the country for a new job you have a lot of moving pieces in play and it's always best to have more information sooner. A week is too long to go without a status update. Not knowing how long to book a rental car, when my car would arrive, if I was going to have to pay substantially more for transport than AmeriFreight's original estimate - these unknowns became significant sources of anxiety that could have been mitigated by more frequent updates and a better explanation of the process.
