I initially called different companies and got different quotes about almost a month and a half before my trip from Wappingers Falls, NY to San Diego, CA and when I called Amerifreight, Raechel told me to call only about two weeks before the car was ready to go. Therefore, I did as told and contacted Amerifreight and talked to Chantell. I was very nervous because I had to ship my brand new 2009 Nissan X-Terra and didn't want to see any damages, but she was VERY nice from the beginning and answered all the 1000 questions I had. I thought between Amerifreight and another well-known company, but the first one was 200 dollars cheaper, so I decided to stick with it. I also decided to pay the extra fee for it to be picked up in 2 days for my personal convenience.
Well, I got a call Oct. 1st saying that I was supposed to hear from the driver the next day to let me know what time he would pick up my SUV the day after. I didn't hear anything the following day, which started to worry me, so I called Amerifreight and talked to Amy about it, but as soon as I hung up, the guy who was going to take my car to New Jersey (this I learned later at 6pm when he finally came) called me to confirm the pick up. So a two-car truck from Blue Angels Express picked up the car, I signed the release, and took a lot of pictures of my car and the truck just in case. I asked the guy if I could have driver’s phone number, but all he gave me was the number for the dispatcher, which Amy had already given it to me before. I called the dispatcher (I forgot his name) Saturday and he told me the driver was on his way to California on Sunday. I called a few times after that, but I was never given the number for the driver. I was told by the girls at Amerireight and the dispatcher that my car would get in San Diego on Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday, and finally… I got it Sunday…Ocotber 19th, 17 days after I shipped it and 6 days after it was supposed to get in my house. The driver called me on Sunday morning and I figured out why it took so long: he was getting lost and probably needed a GPS. Besides how long it took to get my SUV, I didn’t see one little scratch and all of my belongings were in the car just as I left them (less than 100 lbs, of course). I was freaking out from the moment I made the reservation for my SUV until the moment I went to get my car by the gas station next to my house (the truck wouldn’t fit in front of my home). However, I was very pleased with the service and how professional the girls at Amerifreight were on the phone. I would use them again, but I think next time I go back to the east coast, I will be driving just for the convenience of having my car when I get there.
