Josh at Amerifreight took our order. We are moving from Florida to Michigan and decided to ship both our cars and drive a U Haul to our destination.
Josh was great and found a carrier who was really close to the estimate…”your mileage may vary”. Come to find out there are many factors that may change your original estimate.
Our trucking company was K Naomi Transport LLC and they were outstanding! I called the carrier and asked when he thought he might pick the cars up and he said…TODAY.
Let me give you some advice. If you are expecting a good “economy” price…you need to work with your trucking company! They would like a good area to load your car. They would also like a good area to drop your car off. If you call a semi-truck and trailer and expect him to come to your driveway…good luck with that! There are things which you may know that the driver may not know. Are there low hanging branches on both sides of the street on the highways and blacktops leading to your house? He might be hauling somebody else’s car and risk breaking a windshield trying to get to your house. Are there dips and sharp “humps” in the roads around your pick up and drop off areas? Car haulers sit low to the ground like NASCAR cars. What I’m saying is, there are things that you can contribute to help make for a smooth experience and keep your costs low!
So…K Naomi Transport estimated that they would pick up our cars “the same day” and that’s exactly what they did! I picked a Walmart store near to my home (very common as I understand) and we met at the agreed time. Walmart is great! I shop there a lot!
Two men were operating the truck and they were friendly and experienced. I watched them load my wife’s car and my car. I asked…when they thought these cars will be delivered? They said….TOMORROW! You got to be kidding me! Nope! When you place an order, be prepared to expect people to “act” on your order and be prepared for things to happen fast! I’m not telling you to wait till the last minute. I’m just saying that when you “engage” this service…be ready to follow through. Our cars were delivered the next day (”your mileage may vary”) and the fact that we had family to arrange for payment at delivery helped a lot.
The cars arrived without any damage but were dirty from road dirt! Yeah and…So what?
Neither Amerifreight nor K Naomi Transport has asked for my review (as of yet)…This is my first time shipping cars. Good luck on your move. I’m glad I called Amerifreight.
