I am happy with my experience with AmeriFreight. I did a fair amount of online research and ended up choosing them because they seemed like the most reliable choice based on the number of reviews, the quality of reviews, and the BBB accreditation.
It cost me $1395 total ($250 to AmeriFreight and the remainder to the carrier, A1 Trans) to ship my Camry from New Jersey to California during the first week of August. In terms of price, this was in the same range as many other quotes I received, and about $200 more than the lowest quote I got. I got the lower quotes over a month before I planned to ship, while I got the AmeriFreight quote right before, which may partially explain the higher price. (My company is paying, though, so I chose ease of mind over lowest quote price.)
Brett was my AmeriFreight representative, and my overall experience with him was good. He was very prompt in responding to me and generally helpful. I received a call 1-2 days after booking with AmeriFreight about a possible carrier who wanted to pick up the next day (before my stated earliest pick-up) and was asking for $300 more than the quote. Brett said that at this time of year, the higher asking price was probably on par with what I would end up paying, but I turned down the carrier because we were available for the pick up. I am very glad I turned down the higher priced carrier.
I got another call the day after about a carrier with a pick-up date a week after my earliest possible date who was asking for the quoted price. We ended up booking them (A1 Trans), but when we called, we found out that the A1 Trans pick-up was earlier than we were told by AmeriFreight. (Brett apologized for the mistake, which I appreciated.) I was stressed by this miscommunication but relieved to know that if we missed that pick-up, we could get it moved with the next A1 Trans shipment, which was about a week later, for the same price. We ended up working with the earlier shipment date, and the actual shipment process was stress-free. The car got to us in 8 days in good condition.
Overall, a few small stresses but I am happy.
