I had researched car shipping companies for a few months, and because of the review system Amerifrieght uses, I felt most comfortable with their services. I called Brett on Friday May 30th of 2014 to start the process of shipping my Hyundai Elantra from North Carolina to California, where my husband and I were stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego. He quoted me $1,235 and said there would be a deposit of $250 that would be included in that quote. I gave Brett my email address and all the information he needed to "put me on the board" and go ahead and get started on shipping my vehicle across country. I hung up the phone with him after asking what the next step would be, and he said I would receive two emails, a confirmation email, and another email detailing the shipment of the car. I waited for an email, but never received one. On Monday June 2nd, 2014 I had my husband try and call the office number I had been given to get into contact with Brett because I had never received my confirmation email. My husband got a woman on the phone no less then four times, she would answer and he would ask for Brett and she would try to transfer the call to Brett's office, but instead the phone would immediately cut off. Finally he shouted at her "Yes I'm calling for Brett NO PLEASE DON'T TRANSFER THE CALL it cuts off every time!" She promised it wouldn't cut off this time, transferred the call, and Brett finally picked up. My husband told him that my email address was probably typed in wrong and asked if he could correct it. My email is rather confusing, so I was not surprised it had been typed in wrong. After that we immediately got a confirmation email, and an email stating "in order to continue we need a response to this email", so my car had not been "put on the board" as was said on Friday. I read and responded to the email, in which another quote was placed, of $1,395; $160 more than I was originally quoted on Friday the 30th. I received a telephone call from Brett at 9:00 am on Tuesday the 3rd saying they had found a carrier, the price was $1,235, with a payment of $250 right then, a total of $1,495. I agreed to pay the $250 by phone right then to get the carrier to agree to pick up my car by Thursday the 5th, and then to pay the carrier when he arrived with my vehicle the other $1,235. I then hung up with Brett, and immediately received another email, confirming my carriers company and driver, the approximate date of pickup and drop off, and the price of the shipment, $1,245. Overall I ended up paying only $260 more than I originally understood to be the price, so I was glad of that. The process was frustrating, and unprofessional, and I would use this company again, but hopefully next time I need a vehicle moved, I can talk a family member into driving it for me.
