I would like to start by saying that this review is kind of forced. As seems to be a custom with these services they tell you that you ALREADY have $50 off by forcing you to leave a review. Thus, be prepared that when you contact this and similar companies they will do this. This is what we call a con. Very deceptive.

Thus, initially we were off to a bad start as this kind of behavior makes me feel very uncomfortable. When I received my initial quote there was a small side not that said $50 off if you leave a review. When I asked for the actual price they said "no we have already subtracted it". In other words they give you a price and pretend that there was a discount based on a review you would give.

Also I am still not sure about how the insurance of your car works out. I was forced to move on and these companies take advantage of this and had no time to find out. I called my insurance company (very very well known company) and they said that the trucking company is 100% responsible. Now these people are brokers so if something happens whatever they tell you does not matter since you will find yourself talking to the trucker who you never really talk to until last minute when you schedule a pick up. When you talk to Amerifreight they say that is is covered under collision, load and unload. Thus I am not sure what happens if the truck is parked and someone throws a rock at you. My insurance said that it is not their responsibility. Thus I think that is something happens everyone will hang you out to dry, all I am saying is make sure you know this better than I did.

Things I did not like. Once I said yes I received an email with more information than was explained to me, such as Gap insurance and Maximum Allowable Rate Ceiling (MARC). The second one is mainly why I am upset. Because after we agreed on a number they basically tell you "oh well that might not happen!" So lets find out what is the maximum you are wiling to pay and let us decide for you. Kind of your maximum bid on ebay yet they decide for you. And as you could expect it, it ended up costing me $50 more than I had agreed with Amerifreight. They claim that the trucking company they found wanted more, but I made the agreement with them not the trucking company. In my opinion a responsible company would have taken care of that $50.

The one "nice" thing which some of us would call normal was that they did not charge me their $250 fee until they found a trucking company. The bad is that they charged me instantly when they called me and said that they had found a company. I had not even talked to the trucking company and agreed on dates and confirmed that they would work for me.

Another thing that happened was that I called them early in the week and need it done by Friday. They said yes but once I said I would go with them they went silent. I had to call them again to see what was happening. Of course they said that they were working on it but if I did not hassle them I am certain they would have not made the date.

Overall it worked well but it requires follow up and expect surprises (moving companies of any sort are like this and always have the advantage to hold you hostage). I also received a very inappropriate email after all was down stating that if I don't give a 5 star comment peoples jobs would be in danger bla bla. And to please call them to solve it. This has made extremely angry and one of the main reasons why they got 3 starts from me. I think this type of behavior is pushy, inappropriate and unprofessional. If you want 5 stars behave like 5 stars!

It is also good to notice that these are mainly company problems on how they do business and not directly related to the actual person that takes care of you. The trucking company that brought my car was excellent my car came in great conditions and they were punctual and brought my car from Tx to Va in 2 days. But this review is about Amerifreight. I wish I would have gone directly with them but I think that is impossible as this is how this business works. I also did find a company on this website that has their own trucks. They were more expensive but next time I am going with them as prices are guaranteed!
