I did a lot of research to find a reputable company, and ultimately went with Amerifreight. Most of the people that I spoke with to get a quote would outright lie to me. I spoke with Jessica and she was mostly accurate in what she told me, offered me a low quote, and was patient while I tried to figure out how best to get my car across the country.
I figured out that the quotes that the companies give you are pretty much bogus and are just a tool to get people to do business with their company. They have no control over pricing or timing for pick-up and delivery. There is no set price, but it is a bidding process from start to finish (whether you use a carrier or a broker). The final price ended up being almost $300 over what I was quoted, but the carrier that I selected was able to pick up my vehicle within 4 days after it was available.
Obviously I was glad that Amerifreight uses reputable carriers to ship my car, but pretty disappointed to find out that the entire industry is dishonest and ethically challenged. I even had a competitor for Amerifreight call me up after my vehicle was listed on the national board, tell me that my vehicle was being listed well below the average going rate (not a good thing), then tell me blatant lies, and try to get me to switch my business.
The vehicle that I shipped was a mid-sized sedan, still in working condition. I was quoted $915, and ended up paying a total of $1165. Amerifreight also requires that customers leave a review on this website or be charged $50, as part of their service agreement. Ultimately my vehicle made it across country in one piece, was picked up within their promised 7-day window (using PK Line carriers), and without any major damage (still need to get it washed to see if there are any scratches).
