Here is my experience with shipping my car from Maryland to California. I originally contacted Ship A Car Direct to ship my car and arranged a Friday pickup date. As my pickup date grew closer, I did not hear from the company as to whether my car would be shipped. Now my understanding of how the auto shipping business works is that the shipping company will put your offer to ship a car out on some sort of exchange and drivers will pick up your car based on your offer and if they are in the area. My car was not picked up on the date I requested or the following 2 days. I understand that this was most likely due to the fact that no driver was in the area to pick up my car, but my issue with Ship A Car Direct was that although the woman who was handing my shipment was polite and reassuring, it was extremely difficult to get a hold of her other than by email which she would only answer once the next day. I also have to say that what emails I did receive were vague and ultimately didn't say much. So I switched to Amerifreight and Jessica was much more responsive and was able to arrange a pickup of my car within 2 days. I would have given a 5 star rating except for two less than positive experiences with my more. The first was that the actually company moving my car across the country (Eric's Express) demanded $200 more for the move than what was originally quoted to me. We eventually settled on splitting the difference. The second was that the car was delivered a day later than what was promised. The reason given was that the driver's phone broke and he was not able to deliver without the phone. I realize these are out of Amerifreight's control, but they did impact my delivery. Ultimately, my car was delivered without any problems that I can tell and I can say that Amerifreight and Jessica were professional, courteous and responsive.
