Like most of you, I filled out one of those forms online to get a quote to ship my car from OH to CA. Within a day my email and cell phone were inundated with quotes from dudes named Axel, Rod, Gauge, etc...On average the cost was $1250, however Amerifreight came in at an extremely enticing $950 and the guys name was Bob. So I went online, read the reviews, they were all glowing, so why wouldn't I go with them.
Then I got the call from Bob and found out that great price is only for the 'super economy' something, something and it was highly unlikely that my car could actually ship for such a low price, something about flying stand-by and being in the Mid-West and I really should go with the regular option if I want to ship my car in a reasonable amount of time and that would be, wait for it...around $1250. I get it, I've seen shipping wars, but if that is the case then why give me that quote to begin with except to get me in, which the reviews and experience alone would have done.
I won't get too into the weeds on this review, at the end of the day I paid $1200 total to ship my car (Amerifreight did pick up that extra $50, so that was cool). Bob was fairly easy to work with, knows his stuff and my car was picked-up and delivered without any issues at all.
My only wish is that they would just be honest and realistic when giving you an initial quote and not get your hopes up with a bait price that really isn't feasible and not make you feel like you're being crazy for expecting such a low price.
Good luck :)
