I needed to transport a 2013 GMC Savana 3500 Extended Passenger van we bought via the internet from Tyler TX to Charlotte NC. I submitted my request for quotes on movemycar dot com and received numerous quotes very quickly. I then started researching the companies - mostly here on transportreviews.com - to see which seemed consistently credible. Of the 5 star players I got warm fuzzy's about, I then contacted about 4 for solid quotes because the vehicle info area where I originally requested quotes from didn't let me specify 3500 or extended, both of which I figured would alter pricing.
Of those solid quotes from reputable companies, AmeriFreight was $100 cheaper than the next closest. As I learned about the car transport process, it became apparent that nearly all these companies simply act as 'brokers' (middlemen) between you and the actual car truckers and that there seems to be some central system they post the move details and price on to see when/if they get a driver/company that will do it at that price. And sometimes companies will even come asking if you'll pay more to move it sooner. Anyway, within a couple days AmeriFreight had me set up at exactly the quoted price! No games!
The driver/company picked it up and had it ready to deliver the first day in the time frame I'd requested delivery in (we were out of town and couldn't take delivery before a certain date).
Yes, there were a couple small damage spots I'll need to submit a claim for. All I know is they weren't listed as existing on the pickup walkaround done by the driver and the dealer I bought from, but I noticed them during my pickup walkaround. They don't look like items thrown up from road (which it seems they do not insure against), so we will see how the claim process goes. Anyway, if your transporting a vehicle, make sure you take these walkarounds for before / after documenting of damage seriously, because if its not on that sheet then its probably not going to be covered.
