As an active duty military service member I move my entire livelihood about once every two years. However, this was the first of my 13 interstate moves that I've need to ship a vehicle via commercial freight (and my first cross-country move), so I was completely ignorant to the process. Of course I hired a "discount company" that made no attempt to explain how the vehicle shipping industry operates, what average costs and shipping times are, etc. After almost 30 days of broken promises and absolutely horrible customer service from this "discount company" I had to fire them.
I decided that instead of searching for the absolute cheapest price I would search for the BEST possible company to assist me with this vehicle move. My expectations were high; I wanted only companies that were ACCREDITED with the Better Business Bureau (there are few), had an A rating or higher (even fewer), and that would assign me a customer service agent who would be the SAME PERSON that I could call after I agreed to a contract should I have questions in the future. (The former company I used refused to let me speak to the individual that made so many promises to assist me during our first telephone conversation. Rule #1: Poor Customer Service = lost business)
I was both educated by my customer service agent and kept informed of shipping timelines from day 1; and had the opportunity to call him with any questions during the process. My vehicle was delivered on the agreed-upon date and place with no unforeseen hassles. I hope I never have to ship a vehicle across the country again, but if I do I know I won't have to worry about getting ripped-off or treated like a nuisance. I'll call AmeriFreight...........Josh E.
