I transported my car when I was moving from Atlanta area to LA area. I chose Amerifrieght because of their high ratings on this site and because they had a terminal near my origin and destination. My boyfriend also used this company and had a good experience. I dropped the car off at an Amerifreight terminal in Peachtree City (outside ATL) and Amerifreight drove me to the airport to fly to CA. Then they shipped the car to my home in CA. It took a little longer to get picked up than I thought it would, but I chose to pay the minimum amt bc I knew it could sit at the terminal for a while and I didn't need the car right away. It took a total of 8 days to arrive to me the following Tuesday, 1 day earlier than estimated by the email I received. The car was in good condition- no damage.
It was a good experience overall. Just one thing I was a little peeved about: when I dropped the car off at the Amerifreight terminal, they did an inspection of the car and I signed off on this inspection. There was NO damage to the car (it's a brand new car - only about a month old). When the car got to me in CA and I was asked to sign the bill of lading, there were scratches etc listed all over their paperwork! The truck driver does his own inspection when the vehicle is picked up from the terminal and Amerifreight signs off on that. So after I signed off on Amerifreight's NO DAMAGE inspection when I dropped the car off at the terminal, Amerifreight signed off on an inspection saying there WAS damage when the truck driver picked it up. And now I was now being asked to sign off on a paper saying there was damage noted on all sides of the car! The thing is, when the car gets to its destination, it is FILTHY (it's been driven all the way across the country!) so its hard to see any small damage to the vehicle. I didn't feel right being asked to sign off that the car was damaged when it was picked up when I had previously signed that it WASN'T and I can't do a proper inspection to see what scratches, etc they are referring to since the car is very dirty. So I noted this on the bill of lading and the driver also initialed it. I know the trucking company does an inspection to cover themselves and of course this is justified, and I guess Amerifreight wasn't really to blame here either, but I don't think anyone would feel comfortable signing off on damage that they previously documented wasn't there..
