Time, cost and hassle more than I expected

I never shipped a car before, so was not sure what to expect. Read all of the great reviews Sorry to say I was disappointed. I liked Bob personally to deal with, but my original quote of $675 turned into $1050 and we signed the contact on 11/21, car did not get delivered until 1/9. The pickup and delivery are relatively small towns. After waiting over a month, we had to both raise the price to their "middle option" and change the drop-off point to a city 5 hours away from where my sister lives and works. Bob kept referring to my "problem vehicle". Finally we gave a "must pick up by" date and a "must drop off by" date posted on the bulletin board along with the price change. We then got only 2 days notice, and the pickup was only narrowed down to "sometime after 3". It turned out to be 5:30, which required me to cancel my plans for the evening, and they did not update their expected time of arrival after the first and only call. ON the delivery end, we asked for it to be delivered Tuesday (pickup was on Saturday, our first contact with transporter was Thursday), but they wanted to deliver Monday (to the city 5 hours from her home). She is a veterinarian so this required her to reschedule surgeries and I had to wire her the money to pay them $1050 in cash, as it fell on the weekend and she did not have more time to move funds around. Overall. it was much more costly, time consuming and aggravating than I expected or was led to expect. Our car delivery fell during the holidays, maybe that's why there were no takers ... The customer service people at Amerifreight were always cordial and such, but I felt there should have been more follow-up on their initiative, rather than me chasing after them to find out what was going on. So I checked "would use again", but honestly based on this experience I am not sure I would ever attempt to ship a car long distance (with any company) again. After all of that I got an e-mail twisting my arm to give at least 4 stars.
