I had originally posted a very negative review of Amerifreight, but they promptly contacted me and are taking steps to remedy the situation and that earns them a few stars in my book.

In summary - my situation doesn't appear to be the norm, but I feel like I was connected with some rather poor car transporters.

I paid for a first class shipment because I was relocating and bascially shipping the car to myself. Since it's my daily driver, I knew that every extra day without a car would mean an extra day of expenses renting a vehicle so it seemed sensible to have more specific pick-up and delivery dates.

I spoke with Bob Turner with Amerifreight and we scheduled a pick-up for a Tuesday. The original carrier was nearly impossible to get a hold off. I spoke with Bob and he pressed them for a quick response - they finally called me back. Perhaps they didn't want to lose Amerifreights business?

Anyway, this first carrier said they couldn't not pick it up as scheduled and the pick-up was pushed off until Wednesday. Knowing I would be in an airplane all day on Wednesday, I provided the driver with an alternate contact/phone number. I also left a voicemail the next morning just to be certain that they had the alternate number. I left the number slowly and clearly on the voicemail twice. On my stop-over, I found multiple messages on my phone from the same driver I spoke with sarcastically asking why I wasn't picking up my phone and that he needed to get moving and had to leave me car.

Amerifreight already had another carrier by the time I touched down on Wednesday afternoon so kudos to Bob again. This was scheduled for Thursday. Second carrier was IMPOSSIBLE to reach. Their voicemail doesn't allow you leave a message, it just states that no one is available. When they finally called me, they said that they could not pick it up until Thursday. What they should have said was Friday because they picked up on Thursday night after 11 PM. It's a good thing I left the keys with a patient friend!

The delivery date was of course affected by this delayed pick-up, so I tried to confirm the new delivery date multiple times with the carrier and amerifrieght. The delivery date I was provided was also then delayed by another day.

All of this meant that I was out several days of cost for a car rental and I basically ended up receiving the type of service I could have gotten from their standard delivery services - except I had paid for first class - hence my low rating.

I should add that Bob has contacted me back and says they are working to resolve things amicably for both parties so I do feel a bit better about things now. At least they are concerned with repeat business and review scores.
