I contracted with AAAT to have my car moved from Oakland (CA) to Germantown (MD) in August 2008. I was refereed to AAAT by someone in my job who had previously used AAAT's services. Before this referral I had done some research and read a number of (horror) stories about car shipping carriers and brokers (apparently there was some deregulation or change in the legislation that finished to play havoc with the system). Indeed, the process may be scary. For example, I read a contract sent to me by one broker and found it simply outrageous; someone in his/her right mind should never sign that kind of thing. The broker just wanted my money without giving me any guarantee - I would have been in my own had I contracted their "services"!

My car was moved by a company from Arizona (Arizona Auto Transport), which is one of the companies in AAAT's network. I had the opportunity to have a chat with the truck driver. He was courteous and definitely did a good job in taking care of my car during the cross-country journey. One might be surprised but several people I know that had their cars moved around the country told me that is not a given!

In summary, I was very pleased with the services and arrangements provided by AAAT. No contract with terrifying language, just straightforward. My car was picked up within 24 hours of the first day it was available for the moving and was waiting for me the following week when I flew from CA to MD. I will certainly contact AAAT if I have to move again.
