classic car gets shipped, arrives with broken clutch

I shipped a classic sports car, a 1970 Porsche 914 in excellent condition. Car was mechanically sound when I drove it last. So the driver who picked up the car could not drive it onto his truck, and I should have stopped everything right then. Stupidly, I didn't. I ended up driving it up onto his truck myself, and I could smell my clutch burning from when he had just tried to drive it. I really shouldn't have let him take the car. Long story short, the car does show up in florida, but it no longer can be put into gear. They broke my car. This could be a small repair (a shifter bushing) or a major costly repair (new clutch). I don't know yet. Thanks a lot. also, they moved my car several times, and never took the parking brake off. Thanks again.

If you have a car that is any more difficult to drive than an automatic honda accord or toyota camry, then don't bother. I should have paid more and had people who are experienced with older cars do the shipping. I guess its really my own fault, but what bothers me is that since the exterior is not damaged, there is really no way to recoup any loses on the mechanical repairs.

the service personnel I dealt with were perfectly fine and courteous. They shipped it promptly and it all went smoothly as far as the actual transporting went.

I guess I should be glad that at least my car didn't fall of the truck.

We are so very sorry to hear about this situation. We were not informed by Travis or the carrier, TOW EXPRESS - Sacramento, CA, of this problem. Rest assure, Travis, that we will never use this carrier again! It's unfortunate that we received the negative rating when it was the carrier that deserved it. It is quite possible that the carrier can still be held responsible. A claim can be filed with their insurance company and we have that information on file. We are happy to assist you with this process!
