I used Ace Auto Trans to ship my Toyota Corolla from Los Angeles to Washington, DC. The transport was arranged through Hilton Auto Transport, who evidently does a lot of business with Ace. The price was competitive with other quotes I received. I selected Hilton and Ace based on their good reviews on this website. I told Hilton when I wanted the car to arrive in DC, and Nichole at Hilton suggested the pickup day to meet the timeline. She gave me a 2 day window for pickup, and said Ace would contact me a day or 2 before. Actually, they didn't contact me until the day they wanted to pick up, but were apologetic that they had not contacted me the previous day. We arranged pickup within a 4 hour window. At the end of the window the driver phoned me and asked to pick it up the next day, as he was battling LA traffic on a Friday. That was not a problem for me. He picked it up on Sat at the time arranged. The man who picked up the car did not work for Ace, directly, but was an associated contractor. He was very thorough with his inspection of the car, noting all the little dings and scratches. He was very knowledgeable about the transport business and answered all my questions.
I called Ace on Tues. to get a tentative delivery time. They gave me a 3 day window the following week, and said the car had been shipped. The car arrived in DC on the 2nd day of their window. I did not receive the car, but the friend who did reported no issues. There was no damage. I discovered later that the license plate date tag on the vehicle was missing, but I have no proof that it disappeared during transit.
The only way that Ace could have improved on their service would have been to be more proactive in keeping in contact with me. For example, after the transport was arranged by Hilton, a call from Ace confirming the date would have been reassuring. A confirmation call the day before pickup, and perhaps even the day of shipping would have been appreciated.
However, the transport went much smoother than I anticipated.
Based on this positive experience, I will utilize Hilton and Ace again in the future if I have to transport a vehicle again.
