Know going in that their low quote will mean that your car could sit for awhile before its shipped. They put my car up on "the board" on 28 Dec to be picked up in MD and transported to CA. It didn't get picked up until 26 JAN and I didn't get it in CA until 3 FEB.

I shopped around and received quotes from about 4 different brokers. The Amerifrieght quote was on the low end but not the lowest (the quotes ranged from 1000-1450, Amerifrieghts was 1090). About 15 days after the car went on the board they called to say a carrier could do it for 1200, but that my total would be 1490 because their flat rate of 290 was non negotiable. I declined and told them that I wanted something closer to what they quoted me.

After my car had been sitting for about 20 days I asked if it would help if I changed the pickup location closer to a major interstate (about a 30 min drive) and Lecia said yes that would probably help. My only real complaint with Lecia was that she was not proactive about trying to get my car moving. It didn't seem that she was paying attention to the fact that my car was sitting for weeks and not getting picked up. She as the broker could have mentioned that the pickup location was not ideal in the first place or called with the recommendation to switch it after the car had been sitting for 2-3 weeks. Instead I had to initiate it.

After a couple more weeks I started talking to another broker and was about to switch to them when I got a call saying that that a driver was willing to do it for 1000, meaning my total would be 1290. I accepted and everything went smoothly after that.

This customer chose our economy rate which is meant for those who are in no rush to ship their vehicle. The economy rate has saved numerous customers hundreds of dollars off their total shipping cost, but it is not suggested for customers with smaller time frames for shipment.
