Poor Communication

This company was contacted in Feb 14 for a move in July 14. They had very good reviews and gave us an excellent quote for our move. My wife reports that they were very nice and professional on the phone and confirmed our pick up date.

Then, on the move, the car was never picked up. The day for pickup passed. I called. I was told that they were "working on it" and that it was difficult to find a driver to go to Maine. Then over the past several days we were trying to get updates on when to expect the car to be picked up. The company was obviously screening our calls. They would not pick up. Yesterday they started texting us to tell us that they were still working on it. I asked them to call me and they never did.

Ten days after the contracted pick up date I called the company to say we would no longer be needing their services. Then and only then ... they promptly called back.

In their defense, they did apologize for their unprofessional behavior (after making several excuses that it was due to an employees health and that it is hard to find drivers to go to New England).

They also confirmed that they hadn't charged us the initial 20% deposit which I appreciate greatly.

I do not know much about auto transport. Maybe it is extremely difficult to get a truck to go to Maine and to Idaho. Perhaps if we were arranging transport between two 'normal' places it would have been easy to use Philam's services. Nevertheless, we were promised a pick up date. We were misled into thinking that the transport would still happen. If they would have simply been honest that it is difficult to arrange this all the way from Maine we could have simply driven the car from the start. I am now planning to fly back across the country to pick up my car because it is too late to arrange for any other company to do the work.

I would not recommend this company in the future. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company in my life. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this company.
