Don't EVER pay a deposit to a shipping broker. This was what I learned after talking to other companies. I didn't know, so I was a first-time customer with New Way. They said they would or could move my car for $695 but it was never going to happen. They take a deposit, and then lead you to believe that they can move your car for that price. PLEASE, PLEASE don't give a deposit to this company, or for that matter, any shipping broker. You can find a reputable broker that will only charge you when the car is moved, and that's the way it should be. I have since researched, and spoken to companies that DO NOT CHARGE A DEPOSIT, so I know they are out there. Don't let ANY BROKER convince you that you need to put down a deposit, or retainer. This is simply not true. PLEASE READ THE CONTRACT. There is simply no way that you can win against this company. The contract does not give you any chance of getting your deposit back. Once again, this contract will NOT ALLOW you to get your deposit back. Be warned. Whomever wrote the contract for NEW WAY moving services has covered all of their bases. They speak out of both sides of their mouth, and the customer has no ground to stand on.
After two weeks of them not finding a carrier for my vehicle, I started getting suspicious, and began contacting other companies. I had long conversations with other brokers that didn't charge an upfront fee, and those brokers also saw on the dispatch board that my car was listed for a more expensive price than my contract stated. An agent at NEW WAY tried to upsell me from my contract price of $695, to $1,000 to move the vehicle. They also try to rope you in to cancelling your contract, because then they can find a clause in their contract that will not allow you your deposit back. You will go insane dealing with these people. I was very lucky to get out, and eventually found a private person to tow the car out for me.
