Very poor communication and customer service

I contacted AmeriFreight six weeks in advance to make arrangements to ship our SUV from central Illinois to Los Angeles, we were moving to L.A. and needed to ship at least one of our SUV's. I received a quote of $1095 but was told we "might" have to go higher, which we were willing to do since the quote was still $200 - $500 less than other quotes we'd received.

Our order was assigned to Brett, and though I will say he always responded promptly to my emails, we never heard from him unless we reached out and his answers were always short, 2-3 word responses with no details.

We started getting really concerned about two weeks from our move date because we hadn't received any communication regarding our order, and at one week out from the first pick up date we'd given I asked if Brett was CERTAIN they would have a pick up arranged for us. I reminded him that we were moving cross country and couldn't leave IL without knowing our truck was on it's way. Brett answered that he was CERTAIN a pick up would be arranged and that he would be in touch. I also offered to increase our "bid" or allow an earlier pick up window and neither offer was addressed.

That was three weeks ago and was the last time I heard from Brett. Our pick up window has come and gone and we never heard another word from him or AmeriFreight. If we had waited on them to pick up our car it would still be sitting in Illinois. At three days before our move date, with no further communication from AmeriFreight, we finally reached out to another company and set up transport through them for TWO SUV's. They were extremely responsive, had the transport set up within one day, picked up and dropped off as promised, and the driver was in touch throughout the transport.

From our experience AmeriFreight is a poorly run operation that tries to get business through bait and switch tactics. They lowball the bid to get you to sign an agreement with no intentions of transporting your vehicle at that price, if at all. I would not recommend this organization to anyone looking for a reliable transport company.

We apologize for us not living up to our customers expectations. We are always working as best we can to ensure our customers the lowest possible rate but then also expect customers to be patient till we can find a carrier prepared to ship it at the rate due to an opening on the truck or a cancellation. We are happy that our customer had another carrier ship the vehicles for her and understand her thoughts and complaints. We will work harder to do better for our customers, as is our policy.
