A look behind the ranking system
Fortunately the nuts and bolts of the rankings you see on Transport Reviews are very straight forward.

We simply grab all the reviews using the settings of the report being generated.
Below is an example report for:
  • 30 days between 7/8/2013 and 8/7/2013.  The reviews on both dates are included.
  • Gold, silver and bronze supporters
  • It includes paid reviews, these are reviews where the reviewer indicated they are offered and incentive to post.  More info

Using this information we get results.

Ranking Order

The results a basic formula to order the company in the rankings.  To calculate the star rating for the company we look at all their reviews from the criteria of the settings and:
  • Calculate the AVERAGE over all rating.
  • We then ROUND to the nearest whole star.  So 4.5 rounds to 5 stars and 4.49 rounds down to 4.
  • In cases of ties, where multiple companies have the same star rating, we ORDER BY the number of reviews.

DID YOU KNOW

  • It takes TEN 5-star reviews to mathematically negate ONE 0-star review.
