IT Transport Review
Talking about the worst experience ever in my life: dealing with IT transport.
DO NOT EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE. No ethics. No decency. They don’t care about you.
I probably lost a few months of life expectancy having to deal with them. I took me 4 weeks to get my car from Massachusetts to California. The car dealership I worked with picked them probably because they were the cheapest – and it turns out, as always in life, you get what you pay for. Way to go Colonial Volkswagen in Westborough, MA!!
I was supposed to receive the car a day after I flew to California. Kind of makes sense to try and set things up that way. Unfortunately, I had to find out the car was going to be delayed until the end of the week. I was told the car hadn’t even left Massachusetts. This was mildly irritating since I wanted to use that week to look for an apartment prior to me starting a new job. What a waste of time. Nuts. Ok. Whatever.
When the end of the week came near and I wanted to find out when and where to receive the car. It turned out that they loaded the wrong car onto their transporter and that my car was STILL IN MASSACHUSETTS. Insanity! Talk about dealing with geniuses. Naturally I asked myself the question how retarded someone could be to not check the cars’ license plates as they were loading the truck. This absolutely boarders on dealing with a bunch of brain dead people. I was then told it would take ANOTHER WEEK for the car to arrive in California.
Obviously I had to get a rental car to not waste another weekend to look for a permanent place to stay. When I got a hold of Dimitri, the owner of the company, I talked to one of rudest and most uncooperative people I ever dealt with on the phone. Of course the heavy Russian accent doesn’t help when trying to sort out a mess like this. He showed zero understanding for my situation and zero acknowledgement of responsibility. After negotiating for about an hour over several phone calls he agreed to pick up the tab for the rental since I found a good deal. Of course he didn’t give me his credit card information but rather had me pay for it. He said he would tell the drive to give me cash upon delivery of my car. I accepted this deal but I was clearly more than skeptical that I would be reimbursed. In this situation you obviously have no choice other than rely on the decency and honor of whoever you’re dealing with.
Needless to say what was promised as ‘end of next week’ didn’t turn into Thursday or Friday (technically qualifies as the end of the week in my book) but of course Saturday and I quote “by noon”. Since I didn’t get a phone call from Alex the driver by 11 o’clock (“I will call you about an hour before we get there”) I called him. Would you by now be surprised that I was told he wouldn’t make it by noon? No way José. It would be Saturday evening (some excuse about trouble with the truck – would you mind giving me a phone call as soon as you realize you won’t be making it?) which means I just blew another full day of my weekend to go apartment hunting. Right now the car was 11 days late.
Eventually, as normal folks went about their normal Saturday evening activities I got to watch two dudes (did I mention “The Big Lebowski”) - one of them in flip flops - get out of the van around 8:30 pm to offload my car. In all fairness (!!) the car wasn’t damaged as some have experienced with this company but someone had turned on satellite radio which I never use. I cant prove it but the mileage on the car seemed a lot higher than when I dropped off the car. Next time folks, record your mileage. Or better: don’t. You’ll just have another reason to be frustrate and furious with these people. With a car transport company, you do run the risk that someone borrows the car and takes their buddies out to the local bar or joins their favorite baseball team for the away game.
As for can predict, Alex played dumb when I asked him whether he was told about reimbursing me for the rental. I am still debating as I am writing this a few days later whether to expose to more idiocy and lies from IT Transport from Westfield, MA. I find it more productive to summarize my thoughts and try and help whoever is smart enough to do their research and has a choice whether to work with these scoundrels or not.
NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES deal with IT Transport. You will regret it. Interesting that when you research this company you will find other experiences like mine. Thanks a lot Colonial Volkswagen. You sure know how to pick a winner.
